Stuart
studied for his Degree in Sculpture at Winchester School
of Art and followed this with a Post Graduate Diploma
in Bronze Casting & Sculpture at the Royal College
of Art in London where he was awarded the Angeloni
Award for Bronze Casting. Whilst studying he was also
awarded the Henry Moore Foundation Grant and the Voya
Kondik Metalwork Trust Grant.
Initially
he built a bronze casting furnace in his parent’s back garden
in Rochester before moving to Yew Tree Farm Studios.
He has travelled to the USA; Ankor Wat & Pnom Penh,
Cambodia; and Annurradapura & Polunnwurra (ancient
capitals) in Sri Lanka to complete research in sculpture.
His animal bronzes are extremely life-like made more
so by the slightly humorous positions that they display.
