Born
in Birmingham in 1940, he obtained a Diploma in Painting
at Mid-Warwickshire College of Further Education in
1988.
During the mid 1980's after producing small landscape works in watercolour for
many years, he turned to larger figurative work in oil, based on themes conveyed
by the authors T S Eliot and Edgar Alan Poe.
Since 1992, influenced by the painters Richard Diebenkorn, Nicholas de Stael,
Peter Lanyon and Ben Nicholson, he has sought expression through a series of
emotive abstract pieces in oil, acrylic and collage. Originally stimulated by
the unique landscape and light of the Suffolk coast, but going on to reveal the
depth he still found in his native Warwickshire.
