Colin
studied at Newton Abbot College of Art in the early
1960’s where he specialised in Etching and Printmaking.
He was subsequently employed in Design Studios throughout
Devon. During the 1970’s he worked for a number
of Advertising Agencies in Bristol as a Graphic Designer,
Typographer and Studio Manager. In the 1980’s
he set up his own Design and Artwork Studio which
he ran until moving to Suffolk in 1996.
At that time Colin
became a full-time Artist using watercolour, pastel
or charcoal, choosing a single medium or a combination,
whichever best suits his subject or intention - but
often in a free and exciting way. His aim is to utilise
the freshness and directness of these mediums to
create an expressive response to aspects of the environment
with which he has a particular affinity. The images
are drawn from nature - the sea, estuaries, skies,
wide open spaces and forests together with the ever-changing
effects of the elements on the natural surroundings
