’My primary concern is with form. Influences come from a variety of sources which include :- natural forms, landscape, architecture, contemporary and classical pots.

The forms begin on the wheel and are developed by coiling, scraping, cutting and carving throughout the controlled stages of drying. The pots are biscuit fired to 1050C. Layers of glaze are brushed on. A thin coat of glaze is often sprayed over.

After the Raku firing process, rich and varied surfaces are revealed with lustres, crackles and colours dependent on the combination of glazes used. The pots are sometimes put through two or even three firings in order to achieve the desired effect.

Current outlets for work include :- Buckenham Galleries, Southwold, The Hart Gallery, Bonhams Contemporary Ceramics, and International Art Consultants in London, Business Arts ,Cambridge and Galerie Place Neuve near Avignon in Southern France.’ Stephen studied at the Cambridge School of Art (Foundation Course); The West Surrey College of Art & Design, Farnham, (B A Hons. 3D Design); Middlesex Polytechnic - Hornsey College, (Post- Graduate A.T.C.).
