’My primary concern is
with form. Influences come from a variety of sources
which include :- natural forms, landscape, architecture,
contemporary and classical pots.
The forms begin
on the wheel and are developed by coiling, scraping,
cutting and carving throughout the controlled stages
of drying. The pots are biscuit fired to 1050C.
Layers of glaze are brushed on. A thin coat of
glaze is often sprayed over.
After the Raku firing
process, rich and varied surfaces are revealed
with lustres, crackles and colours dependent on
the combination of glazes used. The pots are sometimes
put through two or even three firings in order
to achieve the desired effect.
